String
Ribbon

Effective string-ribbon
manufacturing technology combines conventional crystalline silicon and
emerging thin films. Two high-temperature strings pull vertically
through a shallow silicon melt. The molten silicon continuously spans
and freezes between the strings. Long strings unwind from spools, the
melt is replenished, and silicon ribbon is cut to length for further
processing without interrupting growth. This process contributes to a
double yield over conventional construction of solar cells per pound
of silicon. |
String-ribbon
yields over twice as many solar cells per pound of silicon as conventional
methods, leading the industry in material efficiency. It achieves the
reliability and efficacy of crystalline silicon without the inherent cost
and waste of sawing ingots into wafers. The proprietary cell fabrication
process is among the most environmentally friendly in the business.
A properly designed photovoltaic system can supply electricity for many
applications, from small, remote lighting and appliance needs to megawatts
of power for large utility companies. Photovoltaic systems can power
anything a traditional generator powers, only without consuming fossil
fuels or engaging loud motors.
Other advantages of
utilizing solar power products include tax incentives, long-term energy
cost reduction of solar technology, and energy subsidizing, which provides
varying degrees of financial tax credits for system energy production.
